New Year, New Gear

Here at Glenn Poor’s we’ve been busy as usual finding new equipment, building systems, and listening to great music. We’ve switched up a lot of our stuff here at the store over the past few months and wanted to check in and give you all an update on some of the new products we have in.

First up, the big hitters: we’ve got a great new setup in our reference room with the additions of the YG Ascent speakers and the BAT REX 300. The 3-way Ascents were the only speaker from the Peaks series that we hadn’t gotten the chance to have in the store yet and they have been worth the wait. Like every speaker in this line these excel all around and maintain balance even with the powerful bass driver, they just sound incredible and have more than lived up to the high expectations we had from our time with YG’s other speakers. The REX 300 is another powerhouse amplifier from BAT that has been a perfect match for speakers of this size, we’ve really been loving this pairing.

Another brand I want to highlight is Technics. Over the past couple years they’ve expanded their turntable range with the additions of the SL-1500C and now the SL-50C, which at $1500 and $900 (with Ortofon cartridge included!) give a more affordable entry point while maintaining the build quality and accurate sound that have made their tables consistent favorites here at the store for years. We’ve also branched out from our usual Technics staples of turntables and amplifiers with a couple different products, the AZ100 earbuds and the CX700 wireless speakers. Both of these products have elite quality for wireless sound, and the earbuds bring excellent battery life and a range of features that make them great for everyday use.

A few more new products we have in the store: Bluesound’s Node Icon is a streamer we were all very excited for given how often we use their products at the store. This fits right into any system and brings increased power and quality compared to the basic Node unit (and perhaps best of all, a display screen for album artwork). We’ve gotten our first integrated amplifier in from Advance Paris, the A12 Classic. This amp is a great package all-around with huge power output and a full range of inputs, and it looks absolutely beautiful thanks to its retro faceplate with VU meters and signal tubes. And finally, we’ve expanded our collection of HiFi Rose products with their top-of-the-line RS151. This high-end streamer comes with an exceptional DAC and comes with pretty much every feature possible for a piece like this. You can use it with everything, it’s easy to control through either a remote, app, or the huge touchscreen on the front, and this is just a streamer I could recommend as the centerpiece of any system.

Everything I’ve mentioned in here is currently set up at the store to demo so as usual, please come in and listen for yourself: we’re always excited to hear what you think of these new products. Looking forward to another year of great music, stop in soon!
